After untold ages of futurity, the world is old. Regret is endless. Deceit is ubiquitous. And for the Weeping Czar, love is new.
Ken Scholes is the author of the five-book Psalms of Isaak sequence, comprising Lamentation, Canticle, Antiphon, and two more in progress. "A Weeping Czar Beholds the Fallen Moon" is set in the same world, about a thousand years before the events of Lamentation.

A Weeping Czar Beholds the Fallen Moon A TorCom Original The Psalms of Isaak eBook Ken Scholes Reviews
I picked this up hoping I would get a window into the wonderfully expansive history the Ken Scholes put in his books. It did open the window and id love to see more. Great read for those like me who are enamored in this epic world.
I was interested to see, from the other reviews, that this is part of a larger series. Unfortunately, I wasn't interested enough in this short to drive me to read any more.
After the death of his most beloved wife, the czar somehow makes contact through a mirror with an enchanting woman. She thinks him a ghost, but he is certain she lives in his time, and longs for them to meet. His obsession with finding the woman weakens his hold on the throne, but he is determined to find his new love, no matter how far she may be.
Overall, the writing is fine, but it just felt rather slow, to me. I kept finding my attention wandering, coming back only often enough to keep the plot.
Available as a free audio production from the StarShipSofa.
Although too short for my deep pleasure, this tale of the oft mentioned weeping czar and the falling moon clarifies and brings together many empty places in the world of The Psalms of Issack.
There are many references to the last weeping czar in the Chronicles of Isaak series so reading this novella will be helpful in following the plot. It flows very well and is stylistically similar to the Isaak books.
It was okay- not much else
This brief tale comes the same world as Lamentations, and fans of the series will find some mysteries revealed therein. Ken Scholes' writing as just damn fine here.
