The Three Sisters Bryan Taylor Books

This book is a hysterical read--not for the faint hearted or the easily offended. I thoroughly enjoyed Taylor's sense of humor, writing style, and his use of inuendos, pun, satire, etc. He is a master at interwining historical events of the Bible, church history, and religious stereotypes along with history in the 1970s. More than half way through, the book has a great surprise that I cannnot say more about without giving too much information. I can only say that I laughed for two days. The character development of each of the three sisters (and some of the other characters such as Victor) is superb.

Loved that I learned a lot while laughing a lot!

The Three Sisters Bryan Taylor Books Reviews

wasn't up to this book at all. such big words. i did not even bother looking it up. i am a simple reader and thought this was just outta my leaque
I just couldn't get into reading it. Sorry.
Had no idea what the book would be about after seeing the cover. But found it very interesting, you never knew what would be happening around any corner. It was an easy read but also deep in sections of it. So it keeps you very captivated. Would highly recommend it.
I was not very impressed with this book. It was not one of my favorite books. To busy telling about all the mischeavous things the Three Sisters were doing while growing up. It was not a flowing book to read.
Weird, raunchy, and hysterically funny. Poked great fun at the Catholic church and the hypocrisy of our leaders, democracy and how Americans can get whipped into a frenzy about the most ridiculous (I hope) things. But very long.
This book keeps the reader wanting more. The reader will be surprised how the plot thickens. I would have never predicted the ending. I thought it interesting that the author was a PK, because I too am a PK. I wish he would write more books like this one. Taylor is an excellent writer. I look forward to reading more of his future books.
Full of ups and downs, goods and bads, this book seems to hurt itself as much as it helps itself. Blending hysterical scenes of the nuns outrageous antics and then bogging down dialogue and narrative with dry classics references, the book has a good foundation, but it's structure is shoddy. The story itself is fun and funny, but some sections just make you feel confused and needing to reread it. The sisters are given intricate backstories that are then just shrugged at in passing. While it has great humor in some scenes, others just drone on and on on subjects that don't seem to contribute to the story. The pacing of the story reflects this. The pacing can be quick paced satirical gold, in other places it's choppy and jumping scenes, other places it just drags. The story, even in it's satirical nature, takes a few points to extremes that even under the fun of satire seem to stretch my willing suspension of disbelief. The book is, as the stars indicate, okay, could be better could be worse.
