The Best Travel Writing 2011 True Stories from Around the World eBook James O'Reilly Larry Habegger Sean O'Reilly

I purchased this book for a Stanford Continuing Education class. Often, "recommended" texts are boring, but "The Best Travel Writing 2011" was one of those books that you read from start to finish without pausing for air. Really fine! It will satisfy your travel lust (at least for awhile) if you are stuck in one of those "in between fabulous vacations" jobs. And, of course...its a lot cheaper than a world cruise. Enjoy!

The Best Travel Writing 2011 True Stories from Around the World eBook James O'Reilly Larry Habegger Sean O'Reilly Reviews

a nice insight into travelers adventures into unknown to me places
I liked this set of short stories for the varied selection. Also, if there is a particular story you do not like, you can easily jump to the next one. I enjoyed the story of the old man going on a ski trip with his daughters. Also the camel guy in India and his philosophy on life.
I'm not exactly sure why I didn't enjoy this book. I guess it just wasn't what I was expecting and I found the tales that were in it boring.

Surprised to be disappointed.
I had expected something more light-hearted, I think. These essays were almost all somewhat depressing in their contect. I would have liked a greater mixture of material, and I suspect there are plenty of literary pieces that would meet the test.
As an avid fan of travel essays, I like the Travelers Tales series and this one was right on with the excellent variety of travel locations and favorite writers. Highly recommend!
