The research for this book is broad and deep and draws heavily on experts in the field such as Naomi Klein, Chris Hedges, Rachel Maddow and Paul Krugman. I included Lincoln's second inaugural address as an eloquent plea to my fellow citizens to join me in working to make our country do what it was intended, by its founders, for its citizens and for its place in the world.

A chapter-a-night is certain to expand one’s knowledge base because it deals with reality and is chockablock full of clear thinking and good research. I found that I didn’t read it front to back. Rather, as my mother would say, “I read at it” over a period of weeks. One caveat for the chapter-a-night idea: Each chapter is a think-piece, so falling asleep quickly is not assured.If I had any Republican friends I would know the perfect gift for them. And, there are way too many Democrats who can’t explain why they are. The book is superb ammunition for them, too.
